Our group wants to make an interesting plane, so we decided to make the one which is uses the theory of "Magnus Effect"; the phenomenon that a rotating object generates lift force. At first we were going to make the plane found on the web. However, because the aircraft could not be applied to the formula for calculating lift etc. learned in the first class, it was predicted that the test flight would have to be repeated, so the structure using the Magnus effect in the main wing part was chosen.(figure 1) We decided to make an aircraft like this.

First, in order to decide the approximate size, we searched for a paper, found the formula for the lift coefficient considering the Magnus effect, and performed calculations. Next time, we will decide the design of the airplane.
