This week in Team C, we made progress on our project to build a fully-winged aircraft, as seen in the attached screenshot.
Our focus this week was on cutting out the ribs for the left wing using a laser cutter. We decided to start with one wing and, if successful, plan to replicate the process for the other wing. In consideration of the future assembly, we attached temporary legs to the ribs during the cutting process. Although we began cutting the ribs last week, we faced a setback as the DXF file (required for laser cutter) for ribs with legs was not ready. This caused a pause in our work. However, this week, we prepared the necessary files outside of class hours, anticipating a smoother start. Unfortunately, the legs were not attached correctly, prompting us to begin fixing the data. After modifying the data, we completed cutting the ribs for one wing. A TA advised us to make incisions for easier removal of the legs when detaching them from the ribs. Simultaneously, we commenced the construction of the vertical tail fin. Initially, we sketched the framework to scale on a paper placed on a cutting mat. To prevent excess super glue mishaps, we laid plastic wrap over the sketch and secured it with masking tape. Working on top of this prepared surface, we arranged wooden pieces, cutting them out while considering the challenging aspects of joining these components. Looking ahead to next week, our plans include assembling the left wing using the full-scale drawing and completing the partially constructed vertical tail fin. We're thrilled about the gradual progress and challenges in our aircraft project. However, it's important to note that our team has fewer members than the others, so we need to pick up the pace a bit. 私たちC班は図のような全翼機を作成しようとしています。
今週は、レーザーカッターを使用して左翼のリブを切り出しました。とりあえず片翼だけを作成してうまくいったら同じプロセスでもう片方の翼も作る予定です。後のリブ立ての作業のことを考えて、リブには仮設の脚を付けて切り出しました。
リブの切り出しは先週から始めましたが、脚付きリブのDXFファイル（レーザーカッターに必要）が用意できなかったため、作業を一旦停止していました。なので、今週は授業時間外に必要なファイルを準備し、スムーズに始めようと思っていました。しかし、残念ながら脚が正しくついていなかったため、データの修正から始めることになりました。
データの修正は思ったより早く終わり、片翼用のリブの切り出しは完了しました。TAさんからは、脚をリブから取り外す際に簡単にするための切れ込みを入れるようアドバイスを頂きました。
並行して、垂直尾翼も作り始めました。まずカッターマットに置いた紙に実寸大で骨組みを書き、それにラップ（瞬間接着剤が余計なところにつかないようにする）をマスキングテープで固定したものの上で角材を並べ、長さを見ながら切り出しました。角材と角材の接合部の切り方が難しく思われました。
来週は実寸大の図面の上で左翼の組立を行うのと、作りかけの垂直尾翼を完成させる予定です。プロジェクトが少しずつ進んできて楽しいですが、私たちは他の班より人数が少ないので少し急がないといけません。
